Day SeventyNine: Happy Birthday Heather... Got up and made breakfast at stupid o'clock for Heather because it's her birthday today. As she rolled out of the driveway for work... hey, aren't they supposed to give you your birthday off work? anyway as she set off, the boy woke up and set to work on finishing up the birthday card. Now we did it on an 8.5x11 inch piece of paper, which was a mistake as it turns out so the first trip out of the house to get oil and print off the card at the corner store ended in failure. Apparently the little self-serve photo printer there only prints up to 6x8... and with a lack of editing/cropping capabilities it had... well we needed to go home and try again. OK, divided it into 4 photos, and bought a glue stick... that solved the problem. It actually turned out far nicer on the photo paper than anything we would have gotten it printed off at home, so I'm still not missing having a top of the line colour printer here. A little chop chop with the paper cutter and some sticky sticky with the new glue stick and it was lunch time. Now making cake was on the agenda for this morning... it didn't happen, which is ok because I still have all afternoon. I apparently took my lunch to eat it in bed. Now with the 3am bed time and the 5am wakey wakey time I could really use a break in the day, a none planned unsanctioned event if you will... someplace near the end of eating, my system shut down. Fell to sleep for a nap, face down, glasses on... plate of half eat food curled up beside me... when I woke up the glasses were enveloped part way into my head like someone had smacked me in the face with a baseball bat and the glasses where forced inside my skull... anyway as my vision started to return and the blood flowed back to that half of my face the clock on the wall was nearing 3pm... at 2 hours to bake a cake... lord knows how long to do the icing... yup, cake is a tomorrow thing, had to focus on Dinner. I tried to find something Heather would like... I did my best with what was in the store... a few steaks for the BBQ and some little green trees, topped with shrooms all cooked up in butter and wine, a bottle of Champagne on the side... at least got that covered. Lawson gave Heather her birthday card which will now replace the mother's day card that was on her desk at work. I think I posted a copy of the card on Heather's Facebook page, you can check it out there. After the meal was gone and dishes cleared we all worked together on that cake... Lawson got at it first, grating up ingredients and taking care of the prep, putting parchment paper in the bottom of the cake pans, Heather measured stuff out and got it in the bowls and I did the mixing, dumping and baking. I takes a while for these things to cook... Lawson got ready for bed, eventually went there... we took the cakes out of the oven to cool a bit before being taken out of the pan after Heather falling to sleep... Friday nights normally end early as the work week takes it's toll... A but I had a nap so... wide awake. Apparently someone down south is looking to do some t-shirts and stickers and was looking for some artwork that ended up on my desk-top... I worked on that a while and sent it back south for some feed back. I'll post something when it's done. Too involved in Art Work... didn't get a chance to finish this... but now I have... I guess... Today I might just write about how I wrote about yesterday.
